From reporting to active decisions

– Previously, climate data was mainly about reporting and adding up the results once everything was finished. Now, we can influence how we actually build from a climate perspective, all the way from the early stages to the climate declaration, explains Maria Uhrus, Head of Sustainability at Åke Sundvall.

Testing solutions before projects are fixed

Initially, Åke Sundvall used Plant's consultants for its calculations. Since November, the team has been able to log in themselves, compare alternatives and immediately see what makes a difference. They have now used the tool on just over ten projects.

– We want to do it ourselves to get closer to the decisions. We want the same control over carbon as we have over costs, says Maria.

When climate calculations move closer to the projects, the way of working changes fundamentally.

– We now calculate ourselves in an easy-to-use tool, both in our own development projects and for what the client requests. Plant also makes it possible to work with both whole-building calculations and climate declarations, depending on what the project requires.

Visualisation that supports better decisions

– Plant makes things much more visual. You immediately see what stands out and what has the greatest impact. It is easy to explain to the organisation when you can show charts and test alternatives in projects. You can immediately see where we need to make changes and which choices will have the greatest effect.

– When we can test different solutions and see the results straight away, it also becomes clear if we will not meet the requirements. We have both our own targets and requirements from external clients, so it becomes much easier to understand what we need to change.

A quick start, with learning along the way

– Getting started has been quick. And you learn much more when you do it yourself: how different materials and choices actually affect the climate impact of projects.

From measuring to making a difference

The biggest change is how they now work.

– The most important thing is that we no longer just measure. We can actually influence how we build.
