What initial steps will you take as Plant’s new Chair?
The most important thing is to learn about the company, how its products create value and how we can keep maximising value for our customers.
How do you see Plant’s market position and the biggest opportunities for growth and supporting customers’ sustainability work?
I have always seen Plant as a highly respected company, which is an excellent starting point. For growth, identifying solutions that can scale to many customers feels central. Finding solutions that many people can adopt quickly will also let us help users become more sustainable with a short lead time.
How will your international expansion experience influence your strategy for Plant in Sweden and the Nordic region?
Several companies I have worked with have expanded internationally successfully. This requires standardisation and simplicity, allowing us to communicate our value clearly in new contexts. We will return to when and how quickly we focus internationally.
What are Plant’s main challenges and opportunities in improving sustainability in construction and property?
A great deal supports Plant’s products and the value we deliver. However, construction demand fluctuates substantially beyond our control, affecting customers’ ability to plan long term. The clearest opportunity is growing awareness and capacity to act on climate issues.
How will your background as an investor and adviser to technology companies contribute to Plant’s position and offering?
As an adviser, you meet many driven, talented people in different companies and learn what contributed to their success. I hope to bring ideas from those experiences that help Plant grow. Effective approaches and lessons sometimes come from entirely different companies and industries. As Plant launches more SaaS offerings, I see clear approaches from other companies we can learn from.
How important is company culture, and which values matter most in a successful organisation?
Culture is enormously important and holds a team together. I particularly value simplicity, clarity and efficiency. Much else fits within those values, but I find they provide an excellent foundation for collaboration and successful companies.
Which Swedish and international proptech trends look most promising for the future and for Plant?
Without doubt, climate: the awareness and determination that construction must change and minimise CO2 in building projects.
How does Plant compare with competitors, and what does it do differently?
Plant has been good at building efficient, flexible solutions for different construction contexts. This has clearly made the company very popular with customers.
