Why do you think Plant reached the final?

“We are delighted to be in the final! We use technology to make climate-neutral construction possible. Much of our work involves trying new things. That makes it important to create excellent conditions for learning and to have the courage to fail. I think we have built a great company culture, with a strong focus on an inclusive, safe environment where we care for and look after one another. My view is that innovation and growth result from creating a workplace where people thrive. We also have the privilege of working on an incredibly important problem: sustainable construction. That is inspiring in itself and helps when we recruit talent.”

How did Plant’s software develop during 2022?

“We made major performance improvements during 2022. Our software can now calculate the climate impact of any construction project at any construction stage. A substantial amount of information must be compiled for climate calculations of large construction projects. At the start of the year, queries in the largest, most complex projects took 20 seconds. Today, that is down to two tenths of a second. The more projects we feed in, the more efficient the interpretation becomes. Over time, we also hope to include more and more AI in the system to make the process even more efficient.”

Anything else you would highlight from 2022?

“Plant’s target for 2022 was to double revenue, which we achieved by a comfortable margin and with strong key figures, despite 2022 being a challenging year for the tech sector. The company grew from two to 18 full-time employees in 18 months. We also went from one framework agreement to seven with major construction and property companies, where virtually all their refurbishment and new-build projects are handled in Plant. We are naturally pleased with that success, and it is fantastic to be a finalist for Tech Company of the Year!”
