Plant’s new innovation project aims to create a scalable workflow for calculating the climate impact of simple and complex construction projects from BIM models at different construction stages. In brief, a BIM model is a 3D model of a building used in design, construction and operation. It contains information such as dimensions, materials and strength classes and can be seen as the building’s database.
“In this innovation project, we will continue connecting climate calculations, BIM and the construction sector’s digitalisation. We are delighted that two of the industry’s most important innovation funds have entrusted us with this work,” says John Sjulander, founder and CTO of Plant.
Practical solutions for future construction projects
Plant will lead the project and develop code and life cycle assessment methodology. Several key stakeholders are also involved to ensure the solutions are grounded in practical construction projects.
“Working on an innovation project where the entire value chain develops new methods together is very exciting. Implementation is crucial in this kind of project, and we are well placed to change the industry for the better,” says Carl Kronlid, Lecturer in Industrial Engineering at Uppsala University and a project participant.
Project partners are Einar Mattsson, NCC, Sweco, Vasakronan, Uppsala University, AFA Fastigheter, Hemsö Fastigheter, Bengt Dahlgren, LINK arkitektur, Tyréns, Kåver & Mellin, Boggma and Byggstyrning.
